DESCRIPTION
The Flaptastic Pouch is my first pattern, and it’s all about fun and whimsy with a big splash of practicality. It has a slim profile with a main zippered compartment large enough to carry small essentials. The clear vinyl flap zip pocket (which inspires its name) is bound with double-fold bias fabric and provides a unique way to see and store small items. A slip pocket for flat items sits safely tucked behind the clear pocket. What gives this pouch so many uses are the two back snap tabs: as a clutch they lay flat, but can be utilized with and without the strap as a crossbody bag, hip bag, or as a tote add-on (for extra organization). With three flap styles to choose from, you can create the perfect look: classic plain, glitter-filled for some extra fun, and animal-face which mixes art and sewing for an adorable novelty look!

It’s the pattern that can work for so many uses, styles, and any age!

• RECOMMENDED FABRICS: quilting weight cotton for exterior and interior fabrics

• RECOMMENDED SKILLS:
-basic sewing skills: you should be familiar with sewing from patterns, common sewing terms, and general bag-making terms
-zipper and snap installation
-sewing with vinyl
-working with double-fold bias

• SPECIAL NOTES:
- clear vinyl is the shining star and I recommend a 16 Gauge Clear Vinyl. Otherwise look for a clear vinyl that can bend but wants to hold its shape and doesn’t easily wrinkle.
- double-fold bias binding: this pattern uses store-bought bias binding. While the cut-list includes the size for cutting your own, there are no instructions within the pattern for making your own bias.
- animal-face style: check out the included supplemental guide for examples of different mediums to use, but I most recommend acrylic/oil-based paint pens or cut adhesive vinyl if you have a die-cutting machine. Felt or fabric are other options.
