Seriously, if I can knit socks, you can too. Any voice (particularly the internal one we all have that needs smothering every now and again) that tells you that you can’t, well, is wrong.

Sizes
To fit foot circumference: 20 (21.5, 22.5, 24, 25.5) cm / 8 (8.5, 9, 9.5, 10) ins
Finished sock size: 17.5 (19, 20, 21.5, 22.5) cm / 7 (7.5, 8, 8.5, 9) ins

Recommended ease is negative to ensure the sock fits closely against your foot.  If you are inbetween sizes, go down a size rather than up.

100g of yarn will make up to a UK size 10 of these socks.  Adding a 20g mini-skein as a contrast colour will allow you to make a larger size.

Yarn
West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply, 400m/100g
Shown in Pink Flamingo (left) & Rum Paradise (right).  Only a single 100g is required for a pair of socks (up to a size 10).  The yarn shown is self-striping.

Yarn Substitution
Many 4ply sock yarns can be substituted into this pattern. I have knit these socks in many different yarn bases and brands.  You can knit them in Banshee Yarns Yak Sock, Cashmere Sock, Platinum Sock and Krypton Sock.

Recommended Needles
2.5 mm in your preferred sock needle type: DPNs, short circular sock needles or long circular needle for the magic loop technique.

Notions
Scissors, 3 stitchmarkers, darning needle for ends

Gauge
32 stitches and 44 rounds to 10 cm / 4 ins measured over stocking stitch

Construction and Techniques
The sock is knit in the round from the cuff down.  The heel is a flap and gusset construction with the gusset being on the bottom of the foot.  The toe is closed using matress stitch.  There is a left and right version of the socks.
