In the grayscale, colors are absent, and only values are present, ranging from pure white to deepest black. These grayscale values serve as the backbone of any artwork, establishing its foundation before color is introduced. If you understand value in grayscale, you can understand how to translate this concept into using color.
So, when color enters the scene, it adds an entirely new layer of emotion, mood, and visual interest. Colors carry their own inherent values; some are naturally lighter, while others are inherently darker. If we skillfully manipulate these color values to create contrast, highlight focal points, and guide the viewer's eye through the composition we have started to master value!!
