The Return Reflection

If you've just read about the weight that comes with routine picking back up, this short reflection gives you a space to sit with that feeling rather than push past it.

You might find this helpful if...

  • you feel a quiet weight arriving as the pace of life picks back up
  • you're noticing tiredness, low mood, or resistance as routine returns
  • you tend to treat the return to routine as simply administrative, without space to feel it
  • you're coming back from a quieter stretch, holidays, or time away
  • you meet this kind of transition with self-judgement rather than honesty
  • you want a short, quiet space to sit with how it feels, rather than push past it

This resource won't tell you what to do

There is often a quiet weight that arrives when the pace of life picks back up. Instead, it gently helps you to:

  • notice what eased during a quieter stretch, and what has come back
  • understand that ease and demand are not the same, and that moving between them asks something of you
  • meet the return of routine with honesty rather than self-judgement
  • carry that return a little more gently

This is not a worksheet about getting back on track. There is no right way to complete it, and no expectation that everything changes today.

What's included

  • Printable PDF worksheet (Print version, for handwriting)
  • Four reflective prompts with guided space to respond
  • A closing reflection to support integration

This resource may be helpful if you're experiencing...

  • tiredness
  • low mood
  • resistance as routine picks back up

This resource is not...

  • a substitute for therapy
  • a crisis resource
  • a diagnostic tool
  • something you have to complete all at once

You are welcome to work through it at your own pace, return to it later, or use it alongside your own therapy or coaching if that feels helpful. A quiet ten minutes to yourself, with a cup of tea and a pen, is enough. Come back to it any time the pace of life feels like a lot.

Created with compassion

Every Place to Talk Therapies resource is built around the same belief:

Change rarely begins with finding the perfect answer.

More often, it begins with enough safety to become curious about your own experience.

That means there are no perfect answers inside these pages, only gentle invitations to notice, reflect, and understand yourself a little more.
