Create a stylish patchwork tote bag while discovering two of quilting's biggest time-saving techniques!

In this fun and practical workshop, you'll learn how to use strip piecing to create a striking chevron design quickly and accurately, before exploring the quilt-as-you-go method to add texture and structure without the challenge of quilting a large project. You'll also learn how to construct a 'flat bottom'.

Perfect for beginners and confident beginners, this workshop shows how simple strips of fabric can be transformed into a beautiful handmade bag that's ideal for shopping, sewing projects or everyday use.

As always, I'll guide you through every step of the process, sharing plenty of tips and tricks along the way. By the end of the workshop, you'll have learnt two incredibly useful quilting techniques and created a bag you'll be proud to carry.

During this workshop you'll learn how to:

Cut accurate fabric strips using a rotary cutter and ruler.
Create strip-pieced panels quickly and efficiently.
Arrange strips to form a striking chevron pattern.
Layer fabric, wadding and backing using the Quilt-As-You-Go method.
Quilt simple straight-line designs.
Construct and assemble a practical lined tote bag.
Add handles and finish your project neatly.

Fabric Requirements
Please bring:
6 fat quarters 

 30”x15” foundation – this could be bonded twill or wadding & backing

30” x 15” fabric for lining


Matching sewing thread.
For the best results, please use 100% cotton quilting fabric.
