Stellify is a study in movement and transformation.

Small stitches scatter across the fabric like distant stars, while brighter zig-zag paths guide the eye through the shawl. As the fabric grows, the stars begin to gather, forming denser constellations that shift and change along the way.

Ariadne’ Crown

This shawl is inspired by a lesser known part of the myth of Ariadne: her story after the labyrinth.

Dionysus finds her, loves her, and makes her his wife.

He places a crown on her head, and that crown is thrown into the sky, where it begins to stellify into the constellation we know as Corona Borealis.

Ariadne becomes a goddess, her crown a constellation, and now a shawl.

Construction

Stellify shawl is started with an i-cord tab, then continued as a normal triangular shawl with lateral increases and central double increases. Lateral i-cords give a finished look with no effort and are perfectly matched with the two-color i-cord BO.

The result looks intricate, but the knitting itself is quite easy. Mosaic knitting means working with only one colour at a time, and the pattern includes both charts and written instructions to guide you through every section of the shawl.
