TME Intermediate Basketball Years 5–6 | Ages 9–11 | Upper KS2
Develop confident basketball players through seven progressive, game-focused lessons for Years 5–6.
The scheme develops ball handling and legal stops, passing and moving through the give-and-go, changes of direction and attacking in 1v1 situations. Pupils learn to make appropriate dribbling and possession decisions, shoot, rebound and perform a controlled lay-up before exploring team defence, transition and the fast break. The final lesson applies rules, tactics and assessment in competitive play.
Every lesson is supplied as a detailed written plan and visual infographic, supported by curriculum guidance, Know and Show outcomes, vocabulary, equipment, timings, organisation, safety, AfL, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL support and Plan–Monitor–Reflect prompts.
Small-sided activities maximise involvement and connect technical skills directly to decision-making, teamwork and game understanding.
