TME Intermediate Gymnastics Years 5–6 | Ages 9–11 | Upper KS2
Deliver a safe and progressive eight-lesson Gymnastics programme combining routine development with introductory vaulting.
Pupils explore travel, shapes and balances, rolling and rotational actions, jumps, flight and controlled landings. They develop partner relationships, composition and adaptation to low apparatus before performing and assessing a completed routine. The final two lessons introduce vault approach, take-off and landing before applying suitable vault progressions.
Every lesson includes a detailed written plan and matching visual infographic, supported by curriculum guidance, technical vocabulary, equipment, organisation, safety, Head–Heart–Hands assessment, AfL, STEP differentiation, SEND and EAL strategies and Plan–Monitor–Reflect prompts.
Readiness checks and clear safety guidance ensure that floor control is established before apparatus complexity increases. The scheme develops physical competence, creativity, trust, cooperation and performance evaluation without relying on unsupported high-risk skills.
