The year was 1995, a period steeped in the aesthetics of grunge and neon lights, where shoulder pads and cassette tapes still held sway. The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning stood as a sanctuary for mutants, teaching them to harness their powers for the greater good. Among the most dedicated was Scott Summers, known to many as Cyclops, the steadfast leader of the X-Men.

Cyclops stood in the Danger Room, his ruby-quartz visor glowing as he unleashed a focused optic blast at a holographic Sentinel. The blast disintegrated the target, but not without causing a certain strain on him. Scott's physical powers were peaking, yet he felt the need for more control, more finesse.

"Nice work," commented Jean Grey telepathically, watching from the observation deck. "Still think you could dial it back just a bit?"

Scott looked up and gave a half-smile. "Just practicing precision."
