X-Men: A Reckoning in the Shadows

The shadow of the Blackbird cast an elongated stretch over the frosty Canadian wilderness. Snowflakes danced sporadically, as though they were in on a game nature itself didn't quite understand. Wolverine, or Logan as he was more commonly known among friends, had his gaze fixed firmly on the landscape beneath. With each passing second, memories from decades past flitted through his mind, uninvited and unwelcome. The nineties were roaring in, and so were his instincts, more relentless than ever before.

"Logan," came a familiar voice that stirred him from his reverie. Professor Charles Xavier's telepathic communication was a soothing balm to his often-tormented psyche. "We've nearly arrived. I trust your claws are sharp?"

"They always are, Chuck," Logan grunted, retracting one set of claws and extending the other. "What are we looking at this time?"

"A distress signal from an unknown source. Highly encrypted, intricately designed. Only something—or someone—exceptional could have orchestrated it," Xavier replied.

Logan didn't respond but gave a curt nod. He was ready for whatever this next battle entailed, though deep inside, he had an inkling it would be no ordinary foe they'd be facing today.
