The year was 2001, and the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning was anything but ordinary. The day Cyclops announced his decision to step down from leadership, the mansion was enveloped in a heavy silence, tinged with silent awe and unspoken trepidation. Remy LeBeau, known as Gambit, stood at the periphery of a group of young mutants, his charismatic demeanor momentarily dimmed by the weight of the revelation.
Scott Summers, with his eternal stoic expression, scanned the room one last time before his eyes rested on Gambit. "Remy, it’s time for the X-Men to have a new leader," he declared, his voice strong but filled with an undercurrent of emotion. "We've been through it all, and I believe you have what it takes to guide us into the future."
Gambit, usually quick with a quip, found himself momentarily speechless. His enigmatic red eyes locked onto the solitary gaze of Cyclops. An inaudible exchange passed between them, an acknowledgment of respect and readiness. Remy didn’t need to say a word; he simply nodded.
As the ceremonial exchange unfolded, Professor Charles Xavier and Hank McCoy, better known as Beast, stood nearby. They sensed the significance of this transition, knowing it was more than just passing the baton—it was the dawn of a new era.
