RTSTRUCT PTV–OAR Distance Metrics Tool | Radiation Therapy Geometry Analysis
RTSTRUCT PTV–OAR Distance Metrics Tool
Calculate geometric relationships between targets and organs-at-risk directly from DICOM RTSTRUCT files.
This tool computes clinically useful geometric metrics between a target volume (PTV) and surrounding organs-at-risk (OARs) using only RTSTRUCT contour data — no CT images required.
It reconstructs structure geometry from DICOM contour points, builds a synthetic 3D grid around the target, and efficiently calculates distance statistics and overlap metrics.
Perfect for:
• Radiation oncology researchers
• Treatment planning quality analysis
• Machine learning feature extraction
• Plan quality prediction studies
Key Features
✔ Load DICOM RTSTRUCT files directly
✔ Select target ROI (PTV)
✔ Compute metrics for multiple OAR structures automatically
✔ Adjustable grid resolution and padding
✔ Export results as CSV for analysis in Python, R, or Excel
Metrics Computed
The tool calculates geometric relationships such as:
• Minimum PTV–OAR distance
• Overlap volume
• Distance percentiles (D10, D50, D90)
• Fraction of OAR within distance thresholds
These metrics are commonly used in:
• dose falloff modeling
• knowledge-based planning
• radiotherapy outcome prediction
