Dorte Bak's Beginner's Hat is a pattern where the language and explanations are made extra beginner-friendly, just as the techniques are kept completely simple. The pattern is supplemented by a video on YouTube, where all the steps are shown, however, the video is older, so the recommended yarn and needle size have been adjusted for this pattern. Stick to the recommendations here in the pattern, and it should turn out well.
The hat is worked from the bottom up. This means that you start with the ribbing edge, which corresponds to the width of the hat. Only when you have achieved the desired length (height) of the hat, do you knit it narrower towards the top and finish.
