The Big Fluff Cardigan

The Big Fluff pattern collection is growing again! Introducing The Big Fluff Cardigan! This cardigan is incredibly lightweight and oh so fluffy. Featuring drop shoulders, long balloon sleeves and an easy open fit, this cardigan will take you from workwear to casual and everything in between!

CONSTRUCTION

Cardigan is CO at Back Neckband. Back and Front are both knit flat while shaping the neck, shoulders, and armholes through increases. Cardigan is then joined to work the remainder of the Body flat, from the top down. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole opening. Sleeves are then worked in the round, from the top-down.

While this design is intended to be worn oversized, a range of sizes has been included so that you may choose your preferred amount of ease in your cardigan (ease is not built into the sizes). Choose the size that has a finished measurement closest to that desired number. Sample modeled with 8” / 20cm of positive ease, however a majority of the testers who test knit this sweater found they preferred an ease range of approximately 5” / 12.5cm - 10” / 25cm.

YARN REQUIREMENTS

Please note these are yarn estimates. The amount used will depend on yarn, your personal gauge, and any modifications you make.

Dimond Laine Birdie (74% Suri Alpaca, 26% Silk; 328 yards per 50g); 6 (6, 6, 9, 9, 9, 9, 12, 12, 12) skeins.

PLEASE NOTE: Skein amounts are listed in multiples of 3 because you are holding 3 strands together at once. If you are comfortable separating skeins into smaller amounts, you may not need total skeins listed. Refer to actual yardage requirements below.

OR

Approximately 1660 (1833, 1968, 2296, 2460, 2621, 2810, 3012, 3278, 3561) yards / 1509 (1666, 1789, 2087, 2236, 2383, 2555, 2738,2980, 3237) meters total of a SIMILAR light fingering/lace weight yarn.

Ribbing Needle: US size #10.5 (6.5mm) 9” or DPNs for Sleeve Cuff, 16”, 32” circular needles

Removable markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn and stitch holders

GAUGE

12 stitches and 14 rounds = 4”/10cm in stockinette stitch worked both flat and in the round and with 3 strands of yarn held together using Gauge Needle, blocked.
