Ruuvdu Cowl

This cowl design was inspired by traditional woven plaid patterned Saami Shawls.

It is an interesting combination of mosaic knitting and brioche knitting and it will keep you engaged from beginning to end!

It is knit in the round with two colours of sport weight wool.

Sizes:
One Size

Measurements: 
Height: 24 cm / 9.5”.
Top circumference: 68 cm / 26.75”.
Bottom circumference: 95 cm / 37.5”.

Yarn:
Ulysse by De Rerum Natura (100% organic merino
wool, 202 yds / 185 m – 50 g).
1 ball of colourway Doré (FC) and 2 balls of Poivre
Blanc (BC).
Or approx. 186 yds / 170 m of FC and 220 yds

Needles:
US 4 / 3.5 mm 24” / 60 cm circular needles.
You may switch to longer circular needles if needed.
An additional circular needle of the same or longer
length for BO.

Notions:
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, crochet hook for
Provisional CO (if needed).

Gauge:
24.5 sts x 52 rows to 4” / 10 cm in
Plaid St, after blocking.

Design notes:
This cowl is knit in one piece, top down and
in the round.
There are written instructions for the
Brioche stitch and charted instructions for
the Plaid stitch pattern.
