I, Amanda Cartwright, went to graduate school to become a naturopathic physician. I began my education while out of state and completed my graduate education in 2019. Circumstances lead me back to my home state of Tennessee.
According to the American Medical Association, a naturopathic physician (or doctor of natural medicine) is a primary care doctor who uses natural medicine to prevent, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions. They emphasize the body's innate ability to heal itself while focusing on the whole person, incorporating patient education and self-care into treatment plans to get to the root of the problem.
While allopathic medicine with medical doctors has its place, I personally feel that every person should have their choice to see a naturopathic doctor or a medical doctor (or both), no matter what state you live in. Unfortunately the state of Tennessee disagrees with me.
The practice of naturopathy is illegal in Tennessee (One of 3 states). According to Tennessee Code § 63-6-205, it is unlawful for any person in Tennessee to practice, diagnose, or treat (even with telehealth) and therefore does not have a licensing authority.
Tennessee does allow coaching or education on natural healthcare and wellness so therefore I have began a private membership association.
A Private Membership Association is a private entity established by a voluntary agreement among individuals for the purpose of pursuing alternative wellness solutions. This association is founded and operates under the principles of the first and fourteenth amendments to the constitution, which protect the fundamental rights to association, speech, and assembly.
Signing up for a membership means you are agreeing to a private domain where members can receive wellness coaching services free from government regulation and public law, which would otherwise impede their freedom and privacy.
By signing up for a membership, you understand and accept this legal agreement is for wellness and educational purposes for both online and in-person services. Anything within this membership should not substitute any medical advice given by a qualified health care professional. The views expressed are the opinions only and should not be taken as an endorsement of any product or practice.
You should also be aware that 1) Certain herbs and supplements can and do interact with pharmaceuticals 2) Certain herbs and/or supplements should not be consumed during pregnancy or breastfeeding 3) Certain herbs and/or supplements should not be consumed by children under the age of three 4) Herbs or supplements should not be consumed without consulting a qualified medical provider.
