Rumors about the derelict house I inherited after my mother’s death, were made worse by the discovery of a skeleton in the adjacent barn. My approach to Amelia, proud owner of Roderick Hall and president of the Scottsferne Historical Society, is initially rebuffed. When a mutilated body is discovered on her extensive property, I reach out to support her and we become fast friends. As police struggle to identify the corpse, more rumors emerge, and gossip abounds. The recovery of a long-lost book provides fresh rumors about my old house, and Scottsferne’s history. It also brings Amelia’s heritage into question, and resurrects the legend of a lost Spanish treasure on Victoria’s shipwreck coast; but is it fact or fiction?
