King Carol Defensive Line 1930s

The King Carol II Defensive Line, also known as the Carol Line, was a series of fortifications built in Romania during the interwar period, particularly in the late 1930s. Named after King Carol II of Romania, the line was constructed as a defensive measure to protect the country against potential invasions, particularly from Hungary and the Soviet Union. The strategic importance of these fortifications became evident during the political and military tensions that escalated into World War II.
