The Water from the Rock Made Simple

The Water from the Rock -- at Rephidim God gives water from the smitten rock: Christ the Rock, and the living water still flowing to the thirsty (Exodus 17:1-7; 1 Corinthians 10:4; John 7:37-38).

The Water from the Rock Made Simple is a Bible-first walk through Exodus 17:1-7: the thirst at Rephidim, the grumbling of the people, the cry of Moses, the God who stood upon the rock, the single striking, and the water that flowed for a people who did not deserve it. From there it traces the Rock through Scripture -- struck once at Rephidim, struck once at the cross, never to be struck again -- to the living water of the Holy Spirit poured out on every thirsty believer, and the open invitation on the last page of the Bible: "let him that is athirst come."

Explicitly Trinitarian: God the Father who provides water in the desert; Jesus Christ -- Son of God and Son of Man, Lord and Savior, the Rock smitten for sinners; and the Holy Spirit, the living water Himself, who alone breaks every stronghold and sets captives free. Every prayer is to the Father, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit.

Read one chapter a day. Come thirsty. Read slowly. Drink deeply.
