The word “springboard” is defined as “a flexible board usually secured at one end and used for … diving; or something that helps launch an activity…” Springboard is a play on both parts of this definition since I “dove” into my existing stash with the intention of “launching” into stash down mode. (I also equate the “spring” of Springboard to the onset of the spring season.) Both sweaters were knit up using existing stash (some newer and some quite older acquisitions). Thus, I have only specified the yardage requirements in dk weight yarn for each sweater.

Springboard is a top down, short-sleeved pullover with two options: a cropped, A-line silhouette with cap sleeves or a longer length with gentle waist shaping, hip flare and longer sleeves. Options to alter the sleeve length and body shape are included within the pattern.

A simple fair isle pattern adorns the yoke and sleeve cuffs. The instructions for the fair isle patterns are both written and charted. Additional charts with no colors are included at the end of the pattern so that if you wish, you may color in the charts to match the yarn you’ve chosen. German short rows are used to shape the neckline after the yoke pattern is completed. A link to a German short row tutorial is included in the Abbreviations/Glossary.
