Notice: A mindful colouring book (printed edition)
Notice. Photograph. Colour.
This is more than a colouring book. It’s an invitation to step outside, slow down and notice the world around you again.
Most colouring books ask you to sit down and colour. Notice starts somewhere else. Each spread sends you out to look closely at one small thing: light falling through a window, the texture of a stone wall, the bark of a tree, a wave about to break. You take a single photograph of it, then come home and colour the matching page with what you saw still in mind.
You don’t need any camera skills. A phone will do nicely, and there are no wrong photographs and no wrong colours. All you need is a little curiosity.
Inside the book
- 30 colouring pages, each paired with a photo prompt
- Five sections: Light, Shadow, Texture, Colour and Stillness
- 5 short mindfulness practices to settle you before you begin: following the breath, noticing the body, noticing an object, being present and noticing the light
- A space on every prompt page to stick in a small print of your photograph, or to sketch what you noticed
- “Looking back” pages to close each section, and room for your own notes
The printed book
- A4, wire-bound, so it lies completely flat and folds right back on itself while you colour
- Thick 170 gsm paper that takes pencils and pens well
- Soft matt cover
- Printed to order in the UK and posted to you
Who it’s for
It’s for anyone who loves photography, walks, nature or creative hobbies, and anyone who would like a gentle reason to put down the screen for a while. It also makes a thoughtful gift for a creative friend.
About me
I’m Angela de Groot, a photographer and photography teacher in Dorset. I’ve spent ten years helping adults learn to see. I made Notice to help people slow down, look more closely and find a sense of wonder in everyday things, the way photography first did for me.
