Spirit of the Woods: My Journey with Foxes Through the Lens
I fell in love with nature and wildlife as a young kid, growing up
around the woods. When I started wildlife photography, I took my camera
to the park and spotted my first fox. I have been hooked ever since. I
consider them my spirit animal. I have photographed foxes for many
years and my stories and experiences are etched in my mind. I recently
had a few meetings with this particular fox who popped out of the woods
everyday, around dusk. He seemed to be a loner. He would make his way
out into the open through a small wooded area that seemed to be his
private home. He would run off into the field of brush in search for his
next meal. It was a wonderful experience to see him hunt as he would
listen for small critters, then pounce for the catch. When the rains
came in abundance, his peaceful home became flooded. I captured a
moment when he was inspecting the pool of water, probably to get a
drink. I managed to get an amazing reflection photo just before he ran
off. There seems to always be a connection. When looking through the
camera, I concentrate on their beauty. Their eyes connect with mine and
the magic begins.
