Note Ninja Level 1 (TooT) - Melody Recognition Game

One of the challenges facing our beginner students is that they often get lost while playing in a group or duet setting.  So we developed Note Ninja! - a melody recognition game designed to help beginners learn to recognize melodic shapes and rhythmic differences.  Once the students understand how the written melody reflects the notes they hear, they have a much easier time following along and finding their place in an ensemble setting.  And this way, they get to practice this skill through a game!

In our Studio, we play the game two ways - in the most popular version, the students choose two cards to flip over and listen as the teacher plays one of the cards.  The challenge is to recognize which melody has been played.  If the student guesses correctly, they keep the card and two new cards are flipped for the next turn.  If the student is wrong, both cards go back into circulation.

The second version has the teacher and student taking turns playing the melody, challenging each other to find the correct card.

Game play is done when only one card is remaining.

Download includes 16 melody cards spread over two sheets, and the design for the back of the cards.

Game is suitable for all instrumentalists and will work with the nuvo TooT.  
Cards are in C major, with a one-octave treble clef range ("middle" C1 - C2).
