A personal interview with Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe's story reads like a fairy tale of wishes
fulfilled and unfulfilled - a story of typical nature yet unique in dreams.
This interview is itself a fantasy of a kind - a fiction. But, it is grounded with
biographical facts, in other interviews she gave, facts that are well known and not so
well known, It invites readers to sit down with Marilyn over a coffee, tea, maybe a hard drink or two
shopping, going to movies, being hounded by screaming fans, so much more! The readers get to
hear her own views on love, sex, films, fame the life of the body and the life of the mind. A personal, modern day interview with Norma Jean, or better known as
Marilyn Monroe. We sit at a small table in a brightly lit cafe, sun shining in
on her face, making it seem as if she is glowing, as I sit across from her, recorder on the table, laptop out in front of me on the table and lost in the moment of being able to interview the Icon herself; Marilyn Monroe. We travel around Kitchener to many different places doing our interview, sightseeing and talking. How Marilyn was able to come to 2015 from the dead for this interview is unknown but, she’s here; alive, well and with all her memories, thoughts and feelings from her life before her passing on. We don’t know how long she’s here for so the interviewer, Meagan takes full advantage of this and not only interviews Marilyn but befriends her as well.
This is an interesting twist on the telling of Marilyn Monroe which has been done countless times. It’s unique, modern twist is sure to bring you in and keep you interested, filling you in openly and honestly about everything from birth to death. A student, artist, Mother, Grandmother, Fashion icon, rescuer of children - all these things are futures we could imagine for Marilyn. If acting had become an expression of that real self, not an escape from it, one can also imagine the whole woman who was both Norma and Marilyn. Becoming a serious actress and wise comedian who would still be working well into her sixties, with more productive years to come. I could picture Marilyn sitting at her desk, in front of a bay window, sketching stunning dresses, writing poetry or books, and being a well respected actress. But, Marilyn remained the scared child of the past and remained the nonthreatening half-person that sex goddesses are supposed to be. It is the lost possibilities of Marilyn that capture our imaginations so intently. It was the lost Marilyn, looking out her sad eyes, who captured our hearts.
Now that more women are being assertive, standing up for themselves, demanding equality and demanding that they are respected for their brains over their bodies, we also wonder; could we have helped Marilyn survive? There can be no answer but, most of us, men as well as women, are trying to bridge some distance between our uniqueness and what the world rewards. If we learn from the life of Marilyn Monroe, she will stay forever loved by us; live on in us and like this unique book, she will never die.
