Aspen Travels

Aspen Travels invites you to stitch the textures of mountain travel into a must-knit piece for hikers and skiers. Mix textured brioche with smooth double knitting to create a piece designed to match the elements of Fall and Winter. Front centered cables create the twists and turns of a mountain trail while the double-knit stripes reflect a skier’s first tracks through the fresh powdery snow. Fully reversible, beauty mixes with function – the brioche acts as a turtleneck and the double knitting a chest covering bib. Wear Aspen Travels on its own during the Fall or easily zip up your outerwear over it when the weather demands.

The tech edited and test knit piece is fully written with the brioche charted. Skills – brioche in the round, brioche flat, cabling, and double knitting.

Gauge:
22 sts and 26 rnds over 4”/ 10cm in Brioche stitch unstretched with US 3/ 3.25mm needles 
16 sts and 26 rnds over 4”/ 10cm in Brioche stitch stretched with US 3/ 3.25mm needles 
Note: exact gauge is not critical to this design. Gauge variations may impact final size and yardage requirements.

Special Notes:

• Customize It: Aspen Trails is designed to fit like a turtleneck relying on the stretch of brioche to slip on and off over your head.  To increase or decrease the circumference, add or subtract 4 sts - 2 before the first marker and 2 after the 4th marker. Customizing the size in the back of the turtleneck will prevent any extra calculations in the Bandanna section.  Turtleneck increases or decreases approximately 1”/ 2.5cm in diameter when stretched with each 4 st change.

• Track It: the bandanna brings brioche and double knitting together to create a completely reversible design. 

• Stripe It: the double knitting section features a double stripe that aligns with the brioche.  For a solid bandanna, continue to work the double knitting as established over the 6 sts between the color change markers rather than switching up the MCs & CCs.
