The Student Learning Map brings work journals, portfolio evidence, child reflection, and standards awareness into one connected three-year practice.

Once each week—not after every assignment—the child chooses one meaningful piece of work. They identify a skill developing within it, reflect on whether they chose it, practiced it, or can show it, and record where the evidence can be found.

Week by week, the book becomes a record of the child’s work, thinking, persistence, and growing independence.

Two Books. Two Important Roles.

The Student Learning Map belongs to the child.

It translates academic skills into clear, child-sized learning statements and gives the child a place to identify evidence from real work.

The Guide Edition belongs to the adult.

It connects the child’s learning statements to academic standards and offers possible examples, evidence ideas, and questions for considering what might come next—without prescribing what or how to teach.

The child does not carry the standards.

The adult does not take over the child’s record.

What Counts as Evidence?

This is not a workbook children complete from beginning to end. Children return to it selectively throughout the three-year cycle, preserving the work that reveals something meaningful about their development.
