A practice for when you are neither here nor there

At some point, the ground beneath you shifted.

Maybe it shifted all at once -- a loss, an ending, a thing that broke open. Maybe it shifted slowly through small realizations that changed the terrain before you had words for them. Either way, you find yourself in the in-between: no longer who you were, not yet who you are growing into.

Locating Yourself is a contemplative workbook for those navigating uncertainty and change. It will not hand you a map of a life you have not lived yet. Instead, it offers a quiet practice for mapping your terrain as you walk it -- and for learning to trust its unfolding.

Written by a seasoned therapist and leadership facilitator, it is grounded in years of accompanying others through change.

Inside, you will move through four waystations:

  • Looking back at the shore -- honoring what you are leaving behind
  • Reading the ground beneath you -- naming what quietly holds you in place
  • Noticing the landmarks as they appear -- catching what is newly surfacing in you
  • Finding your bearings for the journey ahead -- choose the values that will orient you

You will also find a short embodied practice for the moments when fear or anxiety rises -- something to return to as often as you need.

This is a digital workbook (PDF). Print it, or write directly into it on any device. Move through it in one sitting, or one waystation at a time. There is no correct pace -- only yours.

It was made for individuals in any season of transition: a career change, a growing family, the loss of a relationship, a diagnosis, and identity quietly outgrown. If your maps have stopped matching the ground beneath you, this practice is for you.

Locating Yourself offers reflective practices for personal growth. It is not therapy or a subsitute for care from a licensed mental health professional. If you are struggling or in crisis, please reach out for professional support.
