Eurhythmic Cowl

This Cowl is written in an easy to follow recipe format where you can use as many minis/scraps as you would like … you can adapt the width of the cowl to be as narrow or wide as you like … and you can use any type of yarn weight you wish … this pattern is also PERFECT to use with Handspun yarns (the wider cowl shown in the photos is knit from handspun).

What you will need:

Yarn – This pattern can be written using any weight of yarn. There are two samples shown in the pattern

• One version used a 6 x 20gm Fingering Weight mini skein set by Lambstrings Yarn (85m/93yd / 20gm on the Tralala Sock Base 75/25 Merino/Nylon)
• A second version used 5 handspun mini skeins approx. 40-45gm each in a DK/Worsted weight
• I suggest a minimum of 5-6 mini skeins in any weight of yarn ranging from 20gm (for fingering weight) up to 40-50gms (for DK or Worsted weight). This will ensure you have enough yarn to get a decently sized cowl, and then the overall finished size will depend on the number of stitches you cast on and needles that you use.

Needles
For needles, I suggest

• 3.75mm (US5) for Fingering weight,
• 4mm (US6) for DK
• 4.5mm (US7) for Worsted weight yarn.

Gauge

• For the Fingering weight version the gauge using 3.75mm (US5) needles was approximately 20 sts / 4 inch in garter after blocking.
• For the Handspun version the gauge using 4mm (US6) needles was approximately 18sts / 4 inch in garter after blocking.

Size

• The Fingering weight cowl is 70in (178cm) in circumference and 6.5in (16.5cm) in depth.
• The Handspun cowl is 41in (104cm) in circumference and is 10.5in (26.5cm) in depth.

Notions

• 3 Stitch Markers
• Scrap yarn for provisional cast on
• Crochet hook in similar size as your knitting needle for provisional cast on
• A spare set of needles in a similar size as the main needles for picking up the provisional cast on
• A tapestry needle for weaving in ends and grafting.
• Scales for weighing yarn
