"Mystic Ritual" was commissioned by the Parkway South Middle School 8th Grade Band and their director, Mrs. Keely Abeln. Students in Mrs. Abeln's 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Bands were tasked with writing their own original melodies using notation software. From all of those entries, two were chosen to serve as the main melodic material of this original composition.
