The Lost Colony of Roanoke: Accessible American History for Older Struggling Readers
Your child can understand American history. They may simply struggle to read the textbook.
The Lost Colony of Roanoke is an accessible American history reader for older struggling readers ages 10–18. Written at approximately a fourth- to fifth-grade reading level, it allows students to investigate one of America’s greatest mysteries without childish stories or overwhelming textbook language.
Students will follow the story of the Roanoke colonists, John White’s return to an empty settlement, the mysterious word left behind, and the theories historians continue to investigate. The history remains meaningful and age-respectful while the reading is presented in a more manageable format.
Lower the reading barrier. Not the learning.
