Renee is creator of Fire and Earth Kitchen, a vegan chef service in Seattle WA, and Dusty and Otter Duck's website, blog, and social media channels. In this book, she combines her love for plant based recipes and the lessons she's learned from and about our animal friends over the years caring for them.

"I wanted to let you know how excited I was to receive your thoughtful and beautiful cookbook!
I immediately tried the Broccoli Crunch recipe, which I’ve prepared about 1/2 the week, we love it so much. It’s the BEST Broccoli Crunch we ever had! Next was the Chick Pea Omelette, omg!! How wonderful was that!! And so easy to prepare! We love it! And you can use it with fruit or veggies. Now, please understand, I am not a cook. In fact, I’ve never been interested in cooking at all, for my whole life, but in covid isolation, it was the best opportunity to dive in and bravely give it a go. Besides, I have only been vegan for 3 years, transitioning at the age of 60!So thankfully, as I’ve been admiring and enjoying Otter and Dusty, your cookbook is a HUGE bonus! Next I tried the Coconut Tofu Veggie fried rice.... I nearly fall over, it tasted so good. And living with a Philippino man who loves rice.. he said, “ coconut fried rice”?? And yes... he loved it!!!! Next, the Crispy Sesame Cauliflower.. so delicious! And the Rainbow Veggies with Garlic Sauce. My husband loves me more than ever, now. He’s not vegan yet, but with these delicious flavourful recipes he’s not complaining and has joined me for vegan meals most of the week. He occasionally says,” this would taste great with chicken wings, or shrimp”, but by the grimace on my face, he understands, and hopefully, he will drop the lifelong conditioning of animal exploitation and become fully vegan as well. Thank you for the beautiful stories about Dusty and Otter included with these wonderful, flavourful recipes.
