Seen Anthology
I am on a mission. I have created a poetry anthology about hidden disabilities and conditions. The book is called SEEN. A variety of people have contributed to the book writing poems ranging from cancer, Crohn's, OCD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Multiple Sclerosis and many more. I want to help those who suffer from invisible disabilities be SEEN by removing barriers and stigma. The book launched on Saturday 15th November.
The book is not for profit and copies are being donated in exchange for a donation to Action for Fibrosis charity, the condition that my mum passed away from in 2019. The book is dedicated to her. In the centre of the book is a painting of lungs that are in floral bloom, with her favourite flowers and colours, alongside small hints of red to remind people about inflammation associated with fibrosis. My mum was always advocate for raising awareness. My poetry is her legacy.
I want to tell the world about this book. It's my first one, and I want to make everyone feel seen and heard. In recent times there has been talk about cuts to disability benefits, and some politicians are even making damaging opinions about the disabled, particularly focusing on autism which breaks my heart as my three boys are all autistic and they are the kindest and most wonderful humans in the world. I hope I can reach this book out to you, as a symbol of hope, positivity and kindness.
Thank you
