Flower Baskets

Barbara says – This is a quilt top I acquired at International Quilt Festival in Houston several years ago. It shows a great use of double-pink print fabric as sashing to bring the collection of hand pieced scrappy basket blocks together.  The colours are remarkably fresh, a reminder of just how colourful old quilts were when they were first made.  “Double pink” fabrics are associated with the late 1800s but many of the fabrics used in the blocks are nearer to mid 1800 – it’s a fascinating mix.  I’ve always intended to quilt this top but it’s still waiting it’s turn!
The original block size is 10 inches and the original quilt - with 30 blocks - measures about 70 x 82 inches. Instructions are given to make the block and also the full size quilt. Quilting ideas are also discussed.
Use the pattern to make the quilt or a runner or just one block as a cushion.
