For when you find yourself in the long cold of loss — the heaviness in the chest, the way the world has gone darker, the sense that something or someone is missing from the room.

Grief is not a problem to be solved. It is a season to be with. And the seasons of a life include winters — winters of death, of endings, of bodies that have changed, of homes left behind, of versions of yourself that did not get to live. Grief comes in many sizes and shapes, all of them real. And every one of them has been wintered by someone, somewhere, before you.

This guided embodiment practice walks you through three movements: living in the winter without becoming it, recognizing the small hearth-fires of every other grieving traveler scattered across the landscape, and trading the push for the warmth your own hand can offer. The practice does not promise spring. It offers something truer — the company of your own steady, tender presence while the season takes its time.

Best for: acute grief, ambiguous loss, anniversary waves, or any time the world has gone quiet and you do not yet know how to be in it.

Format: Single audio recording, approximately 20 minutes. Listen anywhere you can be still — seated, lying down, or even standing.

These guided embodiment practices are offered as tools for personal reflection, self-compassion, and emotional resilience. They are inspired by evidence-informed approaches including mindfulness, self-compassion research, and somatic awareness, and are written by Mandy Persaud, LMFT — a licensed marriage and family therapist with twenty years of clinical experience.

These recordings are not psychotherapy, and listening to them does not create a therapist-client relationship. They are not a substitute for mental health treatment, medical care, or professional support of any kind. If you are experiencing acute distress, a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, or symptoms that interfere with your daily functioning, please reach out to a qualified professional, your physician, or a crisis line.

In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. Outside the U.S., please contact your local emergency services or crisis resources.
