Something Is Gonna Happen was an idea I had after several years of being paid to transcribe New Orleans music from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. What would happen if I applied what I’ve learned to writing an original piece in that style for trumpet quartet? Would it work?

Yes, it works. People love this piece and it makes a great ice-breaker for a chamber music concert or a recital.

Skill Level

On our seven level system, Something Is Gonna Happen is a Trumpet Pro skill level. This is the fifth of seven levels making it just barely advanced.

The first part does have a written high F, but the rest of the piece tops off at high C.

Endurance can be a problem because it is three pages long. but there are short rests for everyone throughout.
