The Yucay socks are a quick, beginner friendly colourwork knit. With their easy to memorize motif and their short floats, they make a good introduction to stranded colourwork for those who are familiar with sock knitting. Choose two contrasting colours you love and watch these geometric socks grow ! The mirrored pattern hides a diamond shape on the insides and features graphic lines at the top of the leg.

Yarn :
You will need approximately 2x50g of fingering weight sock yarn in two contrasting colours.
Sample was knit in Quince & Co Finch (50g = 202 m - 221 yds) in Audouin and Slate.

Needles :
Size 2.00 (US 0) to 3.25mm (US 3) needles or size required to get gauge.

Gauge & Sizing :
Different sizes are obtained by working at different gauges. Pattern provides notes and formulas to find the gauge you need to achieve your size.

Details :
The socks are knit cuff down and feature a German short row heel.

note : Yucay is a town in Peru in the Sacred Valley. I have long studied the Quechua people’s history, especially in relation to their fiber art traditions. The geometry and the deep green shade of this design felt connected to the landscape and rich history of the place, which is why I chose to reflect that in the pattern name.

Les chaussettes Yucay sont un tricot rapide et adapté aux débutants en jacquard. Avec leur diagramme facile à mémoriser et les changements de couleur rapprochés, c’est une bonne introduction pour ceux qui sont déjà à l’aise avec la construction de chaussettes. Choisissez deux couleurs contrastantes et observez le motif géométrique se former ! Le dessin en miroir cache un diamant à l’intérieur et des lignes graphiques sur la jambe.

Laine :
Vous aurez besoin d’environ 2x50g de laine à chaussettes fingering en deux couleurs contrastantes.
Le modèle est tricoté en Quince & Co Finch (50g = 202 m – 221 yds) coloris Audouin et Slate.

Aiguilles :
Aiguilles 2.00 (US 0) à 3.25mm (US 3).

Echantillon & tailles :
Les différentes tailles sont obtenues en modifiant l’échantillon. Le patron contient des notes et une formule pour calculer l’échantillon nécessaire.

note : Yucay est une ville au Pérou, dans la Vallée Sacrée. J’ai étudié longtemps l’histoire Quechua, en particulier leurs traditions autour de l’art du fil. L’aspect géométrique et le vert profond de ce modèle m’ont semblés connectés au paysage et à l’histoire riche du lieu, c’est pourquoi j’ai choisi un nom qui reflète cela.
