The Mobile Maker is your on‑the‑move project tactical vest — a comfy, gear‑ready companion for makers who create everywhere

Keep your project close and your tools closer

The roomy duo‑drawstringed pouch keeps yarn safe and easy to reach, while three zipped pockets feature slotted needle holders, tethered swivel hooks, and space for your favourite tools.

When it’s time to pack up: zip it closed, tighten the drawstring, flip the vest inside out, and voilà! It transforms into a project bag.

Traditional fasteners secure the folded-in corners in bag-mode. Optional strap or snaps support heavier projects.

The Mobile Maker keeps your creativity portable, safe, and beautifully organized.

I made the original Mobile Maker Transforming Project Vest/Bag as a Christmas gift for my daughter -– never dreaming there would be a second. When Bayla shared her gift on Instagram, hundreds of makers urged me to share instructions.

This document is my answer to that call and I am immensely grateful to all the pattern-testers whose expertise made it possible to share it with you.

I hope you enjoy this sewing project and many happy years of making-on-the-move!

Vest/bag tactical mobile maker project

I have not made one yet. I’ve printed out the instructions and taking them to my mom who’s in her 70s. She used to be a home economics teacher. I plan to make it with her. Unfortunately, we’re both sick so we haven’t gotten to do it yet! I can’t wait to do this project and I will try to update my review after I’ve actually made it..

I'm so sorry to hear that you two are sick. I hope you feel 100% pronto and that you have a fun time together making your vest/bag. I absolutely love how a creative project together is so much like a board game but even better, with all the ups and downs and twists and turns and laughs and angst and stories to recount afterward... with the added bonus of a finished product that brings the stories and pride of that creative together time back to mind every time you use or wear it. Thank you again for purchasing the pattern.
