TCL 2023 and 2024 picture settings - HDR
This product contains a document to help you get a better HDR picture and understand picture controls on TCL 2023 and 2024 LED LCD TVs. All options are available in user menus, so there is no need to access the service menu.
The analysis was originally performed on the 55C745 TV, but the document has been revised to reflect the findings on 65C805 (also known as C755) and 55C655 Pro (2024) TVs.
The document explains:
1. HDR picture settings that can be used for watching movies in Ultra HD 4K resolution with HDR and
2. HDR picture settings for playing games where the screen needs to be responsive
In both cases, calibration was done for HDMI limited range 4:2:2 YPrPb (component) signal, BT.2020 color space, SMPTE ST.2084 EOTF, HDR-10 and white point target D65. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ modes were also checked and recommendations are given in this document.
For information only, 2-point white balance values obtained on my unit for HDR10/10+/Dolby Vision and Game modes are inside this document.

Settings are for reference only. There is no guarantee that they will give you the best picture which is in line with industry standards and suitable for your viewing environment (especially white balance, gamma and color management system settings that vary from unit to unit). If you want a guaranteed calibrated picture, hire a professional TV calibrator (for example with ISF certificate, more info at https://www.imagingscience.com).
Settings also apply to other variants and screen sizes of TCL's C74 series.
