Glimpses of Kachin Traditions & Customs

1. Probably the Kachin are the most fascinating people in the world. Jingphaw, Rawang, Lhaovo, Lachid, Zaiwa and Lisu are called the Kachins.
2. They are friendly,hospitable,peace loving and proud of their traditions. "Kaja ei?" how do you do? "chyeju kaba sai" thank you very much . These,one may hear at every place in the Kachin state.
3. Kachin women wear black frock studded with shinning silver baubles and worn red kilt decorated with panels of embroidered geometric diamond shapes in yellow,blue and pink. The hem is decorated with pom-poms.
4. The Kachin Manau festival is such a huge celebration and dance in which hundreds even thousand may take part.Young people meet and fell in love in the dance.
5. The natural beauty of the Kachin Land is unrivalled. It is rich with precious Jade, other minerals,dense forests,snow-capped high mountains,water-falls,the confluence of Nmai hka and Mali hka rivers etc.Breath-taking natural beauty of the Kachin land is comparable only to the garden of Eden.
