Digital Job Application Practice: Fillable PowerPoint, High School
This digital job application practice is a set of fillable PowerPoint slides (they also work in Google Slides) where students type into a realistic job application, drag on check marks, and check their own work before they ever fill out a real one.
Why I made this: Students freeze on job applications over small things, like what "availability" means or who counts as a reference. I wanted them to practice with a made up person first, so the mistakes are low stakes, and then do one for themselves with the same layout.
What’s included:
• A drag and drop matching slide for 8 application words
• A practice person’s info card and a 5 slide application to fill out for them
• A check it before you turn it in checklist
• A find the mistakes slide with 6 mistakes on a filled in application
• A 5 slide application for the student’s own information
• A next steps slide, a Check Your Work slide, and a teacher guide with an answer key
How to use it: Open the file in PowerPoint or Google Slides and assign it with a copy for each student. Fill out Sam’s application together or with support, then let students find the mistakes and do their own.
Who it’s for: special education, transition, life skills, and CTE classes in grades 9 to 12 and 18 to 21 programs.
Format: 18 slide PowerPoint (.pptx) zip with a teacher guide. Open in PowerPoint or upload to Google Drive and open with Google Slides.
