Clean Slate: A Recovery Novel

This is a work of fiction. The people in it never lived, and the town is only borrowed — but the rooms are real. I have sat in them. The parole office with the buzzing fluorescent lights. The garage bay in winter with the space heater that never quite reaches the corners. If you are coming home from prison, you will hear a phrase in these pages: clean slate. It is not a fancy phrase. It just means you get to start writing again on a page that is not already full of the old story. That is all. No eraser. A novel of addiction and return — 70 chapters about what breaks, what holds, and what it takes to come back.
