Waiting For Rain
Waiting for Rain is a lovely garter and lace crescent shawl that uses a unique short row lace technique.
It fits perfectly over your shoulders and drapes in a way which is very pleasing to the eye. It’s worked top down with lacey increases.

I believe that I may have developed a new technique! Charted lace short rows! This is different than any other charted0-style short rows I’ve seen because it can easily incorporate large lace motifs! I’m calling it softsweaters charted short row technique! (Because I’m pretty damn excited that I created a technique!)
The way the garter opens up to reveal lovely architectural lace is like lace-y rips through the garter. I’m pleased as peach with the way this project turned out. I hope you enjoy working it!
The pattern comes with both written and charted instructions! So for folks who aren’t comfortable with charts, you can just ignore them :)
Needles:
4mm (US 6) circular needles.
Notions:
Things to block your shawl with. And 25 stitch markers if you’d like to help keep track of the short rows.
Yarn:
2 skeins of Plucky Knitter Primo Fingering in “Flannel” or 780 yards (714 meters) of fingering weight yarn (grey). 2 skeins of Sweet Fiber Cashmerino 20 in colourway “Vintage Lace” (cream)
Gauge:
24 stitches and 24 rows = 4” (10cm) square knit flat in garter stitch and blocked.
Size of Shawl:
80” (2m) along the wingspan of the shawl, 20” (50cm) deep at the deepest point.
Glossary:
K - Knit (K2 = Knit two stitches).
P - Purl (P2 = Purl two stitches).
YO - Yarn Over.
KFB - Knit into the Front and the Back of the stitch.
K2tog - Knit two stitches together.
RS - Right Side.
WS - Wrong Side.
KYOK - Knit-Yarn Over-Knit into the same stitch.
S1K2P - Slip one stitch, Knit two stitches
together, Pass slipped stitch over the stitches you just knit together.
