Dinosaur Illusion Baby Blanket - PDF knitting pattern

You can only see the illusion dinosaur when you look at the blanket from an angle. When you look straight at the knitting you will see stripes and just the faintest shadow of the creature.

The blanket shown was knitted in DK yarn and measures about 80 cm x 100 cm (32” x 40”). You could easily adjust this to be a blanket for an older child by adding wide borders all round.

The size will be different if you choose a different thickness of yarn. The illusion will work whatever thickness of yarn you choose.

Amount of yarn (if using DK)
  • Approximately 600 metres (660 yards) dark DK
  • Approximately 500 metres (550 yards) light DK
Illusion knitting is extremely easy to do. It only requires basic knit and purl stitches. It is easier than any other kind of colourwork.

One of the photographs shows the blanket from directly above.
