This came out of a request from a student. She was obsessed with scales and wanted to learn a large number of them across the whole fretboard in the least time possible.
The standard approach is five to seven patterns per scale. Multiply that by the number of scales worth knowing and you've committed years to memorisation. So we dropped it. Three patterns per scale, all derived from three master patterns, with the scales themselves grouped so they're easier to digest.
