Flier Foam Boat Plans and Construction book

Flier's construction book includes updated plan drawings, foam cutting patterns, materials lists, photos and complete build details for this original boat project. It includes many important details not shown in the video. The plans have produced a superior, fast rowing and long lasting portageable personal rowing and fishing boat. Building tips and explanations are presented in an easy to read manner making it a small course in foam boat building.

The original DIY building project was presented in a ten minute compressed video on YouTube:

Flier is intended as a 12' personal portageable super light rowing boat intended for inland fishing and touring, similar in purpose to a traditional Adirondack guideboat, or small wood and canvas canoe. As such Flier has proven to be faster, roomier, carries more weight, and is more stable than my commercial plastic fishing kayak, at half the weight. This efficient easy-to-build boat design was purposely constructed using inexpensive off-the-shelf water clean-up and low VOC materials, and simplified construction methods. No Fiberglass, no polyester resins, and very few basic tools were needed. The main tool used to build Flier was an old hacksaw blade!
