Softly and Tenderly Trumpet Hymn Duet
Softly and Tenderly Trumpet Duet
Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling
Will L. Thompson
Arr. Eddie Lewis
Softly and Tenderly is a little different from most of the others because we are trying to honor the mood and harmonies of the original hymns in this series. And I just feel as if the mood of this hymn dictates an entirely different treatment from the other Trumpet Hymn Duets that we’ve published so far.
I did write a blog about this arrangement that you can read by clicking here.
For the most part, this arrangement is easier than the others in the Trumpet Hymn Duet series. The range is lower and the parts are less demanding. That was dictated by the mood of the piece. It doesn’t sound right to have something so beautiful being transformed into a musical gymnastics piece. So I kept it simple most of the way.
So we are putting the skill level for Softly and Tenderly trumpet duet at the Trumpet Player level, which is the third in our seven level system. This is the first level of two intermediate levels. Most high school trumpet players should be able to play this arrangement.
