Eagle Illusion Shawl - PDF knitting pattern

This flying eagle illusion can be used for a shawl, as shown in the photographs, or it could be adapted to be a rectangular wall-hanging.

When you look straight at it you only see narrow stripes. The eagle appears and disappears as you move around.

It is 160 stitches high and 320 ridges wide. Using DK yarn with a gauge of 5 stitches per inch the finished size is approximately 162 cm (64”) wide and 81 cm (32”) deep. I used approximately 520 metres (570 yards) in each of two colours.

The shawl is shown with a narrow edging all round. You could add a wider border if you want to make the shawl bigger. The pattern includes instructions for this, and for converting to a wall-hanging.
