Caernarfon Hat and Cowl Knitting Pattern

Carthen is the Welsh word for blanket. There is a strong Welsh tradition of beautiful woven blankets and other wool fabrics incorporating striking motifs which are instantly recognisable. I grew up with one of these blankets in my home and so when I see them anywhere else, I immediately associate them with family and home, warmth and caring. The motif in this pattern is inspired by the famous “Caernarfon” pattern.

Designed for Cartref Yarn’s 2020 Christmas Box, these patterns would work well with any of their range of saturated colours.  It produces wonderfully crisp colourwork.
