Organize My Work Area Task Box: Tools, Bag and Materials Ready, Ages 14 to 21
This organize my work area task box teaches students to set up and reset a workstation, pack a work bag, return tools to their labels, and spot what is missing before a shift.
Why I made this: A fast, friendly car wash student nearly lost his placement because he left towels in a heap and the vacuum on the ground every night. We labeled every hook together, and resetting became part of the job, because it is.
What’s included:
• A 21 page PDF and an editable Word copy
• A teacher page with exact counts and a 2 week plan
• Level A ●: 12 near errorless "where does it go?" and "what goes in my bag?" cards, in 16 point type
• Level B ■: 24 cards for set up and reset, packing a work bag, labels, and finding what is missing
• Level C ▲: 24 twist cards (missing before the shift, an item in the wrong spot, a broken tool to set aside)
• A workstation mat with labeled spots and a "set up, reset, and pack" reference page with a blank work bag list
• 3 practice pages, an answer key with twists marked, a new executive function data sheet, a 10 session graph, a try it for real page with a 5 item adult check, and blank cards
How to use it: Set up the workstation mat with real items first. Students work one level at a time with self check codes. Then label a real station with masking tape and have the student set up and reset it while you use the adult check.
Who it’s for: High school special education teachers, 18 to 21 program teachers, job coaches, and paras building job site independence with students ages 14 to 21.
Format: PDF, US Letter, 21 pages, plus an editable Word copy. Level markers use a word plus a shape, so it works in black and white.
How this is different: Supply Room Restock Work Task Box | Par Levels + Counting | SPED is about counting and restocking supplies. Interoffice Mail Work Task Box | Sort by Room, Department + Name is about sorting mail. This box is about keeping your own work area ready: a spot for every tool, a packed bag, and noticing what is missing. Job Site Self Monitoring Checklists + Daily Work Log is student behavior ratings for a whole shift.
