The Pocket Parrots pattern is a quick, easy, and low-sew pattern that you can customize to make a cockatiel, cockatoo, or an array of different birds by using different yarn colors. The head, body, and tail are all crocheted in one piece. It is designed using plush yarn but works well with other fibers, such as cotton and acrylic yarns, as well. This mini amigurumi bird makes a great keychain accessory. It’s also perfect as a last-minute gift for bird lovers, a party favor for themed parties, a class Valentine’s Day gift, Christmas stocking stuffer, or craft fair product.

MATERIALS

Super bulky weight 6 yarn in desired colors (I used Hobbii Honey Bunny yarn)

Thin yarn or threads in desired colors for embroidering details

5mm crochet hook

8mm plastic safety eyes (x2)

Fiberfill stuffing

Yarn needle

Scissors

STITCHES USED (US TERMS)

FO = fasten off

ch = chain

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

inc = increase (insert 2 sc in same st)

dec = decrease (sc 2 sts together)

hdc = half double crochet

dc = double crochet

dc-inc = double crochet increase (insert 2 dc in same st)
